Reception Class

Reception children continue to learn through a topic based curriculum, but with a focus on the final developmental stages of learning within the Foundation Stage called the Early Learning Goals. Each of the 17 areas of learning have an end Early Learning Goal and it is these which children are assessed against at the end of the academic year.

Children in the Reception class are developing their independence, perseverance and problem solving skills within their learning. These skills are also assessed and are called the Characteristics of Effective Learning. These learning behaviours play a vital role in children becoming confident learners and reaching their full potential.
