We believe that children learn best when they are motivated, happy and interested so we offer an interesting and varied curriculum, which is planned to meet the needs of every individual.
The academy curriculum is based on the requirements of the National Curriculum consisting of English, Maths, Science, ICT, Design and Technology, Art, History, Geography, Music, PE, RE and French.
The National Curriculum at our academy is split into 3 Key Stages.
Early Years Foundation Stage – Nursery, Reception (YR) EARLY YEARS
Key Stage 1 – Y1 and Y2 (INFANT)
Key Stage 2 – Y3 to Y6 (JUNIOR)
Our dedicated teachers plan closely to produce exciting, relevant and differentiated activities which ensure that all children are able to access the curriculum and achieve high standards. For further details please see our Teaching and Learning Policy.
As the children progress with their reading we use a range of reading schemes throughout the school which includes Pearsons and Oxford Reading Tree. These are colour banded to match children's reading levels. When a child is ready to move onto the next level, they are awarded with a reader wrist band.
Children are also encouraged to read for pleasure in school and at home, both on-line and the more traditional way!
